The Casa Mamut is located in Valdoviño, a picturesque village in Ferrolterra, Galicia, in the North-West of the Iberian Peninsula. Still untroubled by the effects of mass-tourism, Valdoviño is an Eldorado for everyone seeking tranquility and recreational time. You are looking for sportive activities? Or you want to chill-out at one of the numerous beaches in the area? Maybe some cultural input? Some culinary treats? Valdoviño has it all! 


GET THERE


All roads lead to Rome. Well, maybe… But there are quite a few ways to get to Valdoviño as well. The most easy way is to go by airplane to one of the following airports: 

  • La Coruña (LCG): about 45min drive
  • Santiago de Compostela (SCQ): about 1h15min drive
  • Vigo (VGO): about 2h drive
  • Oviedo (OVD): about 2h15min drive
  • Porto (OPO): about 3h15min drive

  • La Coruña: 66,- EUR
  • Santiago de Compostela: 99,- EUR
  • For transfers between 21:00 and 08:00 an additional fee of 16,- EUR applies
  • The transfer-fee is calculated per way and is shared amongst the passengers.

Without doubt one of the main attractions in the area of Valdoviño are the numerous beaches you find within close proximity. From sheltered bays with calm waters to open beaches with perfect waves for surfing. Valdoviño has it all!

ACTIVITIES

Due to the exposed location of Valdoviño and the many beaches in the area, surfing is the main activity to be practiced. The differently oriented bays offer perfect conditions at pretty much every condition for beginners and advanced surfers alike. We work closely together with the Camino Surf Camp – the best surf school and surf camp in the area. For more information, please click here

Out of the water, you might want to explore the hinterland on the mountainbike or take a walk around the beautiful natural reserves in the area. GASTRONOMY

Galicia is famous for it’s culinary treats. With over 1000km of coastline, it’s little wonder that seafood from this area is the cream of the crop. Make sure to give the “Pulpo a la Feira” a try – pretty much the most iconic Galician dish there is. But there is more to discover: Learn how to eat Percebes (Barnacles) – it’s not that easy at first – and enjoy the way Hake Fish is prepared in the region. And of course: order some “Pimientos de Padrón” -You will love it!
